Your Screen Room & Pool Enclosure FAQs Answered: Everything You Need to Know!

  • Do you only do complete re-screens or can I have just a few screen panels replaced?

We will come out and replace how ever many panels you would like.

  • Do you replace window screens or slider screens.

No, we don’t do any window screens or screen sliders. We mainly do pool cages, screen rooms, Lanais, Re-screens and Repairs.

  • What is your time frame on repairs? On Lanais?

We are typically a week or less out on repair jobs. On Lanai jobs we are 1-2 weeks out (once HOA approves job if needed).

  • What service areas do you cover?

We cover the following cities: Valrico, Brandon, Lithia, Riverview, Wimauma, Apollo Beach, Dover, Seffner and Plant City.

  • What does a full re-screen job include?

On a full re-screen we remove all of the existing screen and spline and haul it away. We install all new screen and spline, and we install new door hardware as well.

  • Do you do patch jobs on the screen or paint jobs on the frame?

No, we don’t do either of these mainly because they don’t last that long.

Lanai Screen Installation in Ruskin, FL - Questions Answered

Salco Screens serves Ruskin, FL, homeowners with lanai screen installation, rescreening, and repair across Hillsborough County. The questions below cover topics specific to new installations -- from permits to screen types -- that go deeper than general service information.

  • Does Lanai Screen Installation in Ruskin Require a Permit?

Yes, this type of project in Ruskin, FL, typically requires a Hillsborough County building permit before work begins. New screen enclosure additions generally must comply with the Florida Building Code, which means submitted plans, wind-load documentation, and a scheduled inspection are often part of the process. Salco Screens is a licensed contractor, so the permitting and compliance steps are handled on your behalf. Attempting a lanai installation without the proper permit can result in failed inspections or complications at resale.

  • What Screen Materials Work Best for Ruskin's Climate?

Ruskin sits along the Little Manatee River near Tampa Bay, where high humidity, intense UV exposure, and active storm seasons put real strain on screen systems. The right mesh depends on your priorities:

    • Fiberglass mesh is a durable everyday option that resists corrosion in coastal-adjacent humidity.
    • Solar or sun-control screens can reduce glare and heat transfer, which matters in Florida's long summer months.
    • Heavy-duty or pet-resistant screens may suit households near the waterfront where wind-driven debris is common.
    • No-see-um mesh offers a tighter weave for properties near the river or wooded areas where small insects are present.

Salco Screens can help match the right screen type to your specific property and outdoor goals during a consultation.

  • How Long Does the Lanai Screen Installation Process Take?

Timeline varies by project scope. A straightforward re-screen on an existing structure can often be completed in a day or two. A new enclosure project in Ruskin that requires permitting through Hillsborough County Building Services may involve additional lead time for plan review before installation begins. Salco Screens communicates each stage so there are no surprises on scheduling.

  • Can Existing Screen Frames Be Reused During a Re-Screen?

Frames that are structurally sound and free from corrosion can often be retained, which may reduce the overall scope of work. Frames showing rust, warping, or damage from a prior storm season are typically better replaced to support the new screen properly. A Salco Screens technician can assess your existing structure and recommend whether a re-screen or a full replacement is the right path. Learn more on the residential screen repair page
